Chinese restaurant delicatessens are often referred to as Chinese delicatissens, and they are actually not Chinese in origin.
In fact, they are French and Belgian food that is cooked in a traditional Chinese cooking method called china meringue.
The French name for it comes from the Chinese words for “bread,” which translates to “china”.
But there are no Chinese components in Chinese cuisine.
